John Bridgeman CBE Non-executive Chairman
John has recently completed a five year term as Director General of Fair Trading. He therefore brings with him experience of consumer empowerment at the very highest level. During his period at the OFT John was integrally involved in new competition legislation. He successfully dealt with over 3,000 unfair contract terms cases, over 2,000 restrictive practices cases as well as other cases involving consumer protection. Savings to consumers from these works are estimated at £1 billion per year. Prior to his role at the OFT, John was Chief Executive of British Alcan Aluminium, a business with turnover of over £1 billion. He therefore also brings with him considerable management experience at the highest level. |
